Wale

Wale is a Nigerian-American rapper born in Washington, DC who became famous after his 2006 song “Dig Dug (Shake It)” caught on as a hit in his hometown. In 2007, producer Mark Ronson signed Wale to Allido Records, and Wale quickly rose to national prominence after the release of several mixtapes. Wale has gone on to release two more solo albums – Attention Deficit and Ambition – with a third called I Ain’t Perfect on its way.

In 2010, Wale won the Best New Artist award on the Soul Train Awards. Wale is also the winner of two BET Awards, winning for Best Collaboration on 2012’s “Lotus Flower Bomb” and for Best Club Banger on 2011's “No Hands.” “Lotus” also received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song.

Critics describe Wale’s music as a “post-Kanye, post-Lil Wayne, alternative-meets-hardcore-style,” and fans continue to make Wale’s albums and singles some of the best selling of the rap genre. Wale has worked with everyone in the music industry from Lady Gaga to Kid Cudi and is one of the most respected rappers around.
