Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 10, 1968, Tracy Morgan’s rise to fame was tumultuous at best. Morgan dropped out of high school with just four credits left to finish and began to deal drugs on the streets of his crime-ridden neighborhood and developed a dependency on alcohol. After his best friend’s murder, Morgan began to pursue comedy gigs in honor of his late friend, a passion he had used to cope with the obstacles of growing up.
Morgan’s first claim to fame was on the TV sitcom, Martin, followed by an opportunity to join the cast of Saturday Night Live, which Morgan was a part of from 1996 to 2003. Morgan’s reputation as a comedian skyrocketed after SNL and he was cast as a member of NBC’s 30 Rock from 2006 to 2013. The talent Morgan has exhibited throughout the years has earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (2007) for 30 Rock and two Image Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2008 and 2009 for 30 Rock.
