Tommy Emmanuel

Born in Australia in 1955, Williams Thomas Emmanuel, or Tommy Emmanuel, is a guitarist known for his quick fingers and complicated technique. He has been nominated for two Grammys and has twice been named Best Acoustic Guitarist by Guitar Player magazine.

Emmanuel began playing guitar at age four and was performing live with his family band by age six. His unique style uses all ten fingers, allowing him to create unprecedented melodies and percussive sounds with a single instrument. He was influenced at a young age by Nashville guitarist Chet Atkins and has adapted Atkins’ style to be his own.

Tommy Emmanuel is an acoustic performer and generally performs solo unless he has invited special guests to play with him. As such, Tommy Emmanuel shows are generally laid-back, casual, and pleasant events with an audience that is there just as much to enjoy the music as they are to enjoy a classy cocktail and some sensual ambiance.
