Michelle SawickiApr 18, 2013The UCB is home to some of the greatest in comedy to date, with alumnis working in SNL, 30 Rock, Conan O'Brien, and Old School (just to name a few). And with Amy Poehler as one of UCB's founders, it's not hard to see why. The UCB is an intimate theater that holds more people than one might guess. There are two shows on Fridays and Saturdays (a 7pm and a 9pm), which makes this a great way to start your night. Entrance is based on first come first serve, and they make you wait outside which can be a bit harsh in the winter, but always worth it. The show is made up of about 10 different sketches played by any permutation of a cast of 6 (and you can usually tell which of the 6 will make it past the UCB). With some real laugh out loud moments, it feels like you are witnessing the birth of the next great comedy acts, and the small intimate theater makes you feel like you are really a part of their journey. So start your night off with a laugh.. And maybe a PBR or two, which is sold at the desk that doubles as a bar in the darkest corner of the theater. Cheers!
