Southern rock/country rock band The Marshall Tucker Band formed in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1972, taking its name from the name of a piano tuner whose name was on a key ring the band found in its rehearsal space. Although two dozen members have come and gone over the years, the band has always been helmed by vocalist Doug Gray. Other current members are Pat Elwood (bass), Rich Willis (guitar), B.B. Borden (drums), Chris Hicks (guitar), and Marcus Henderson (multi-instrumentalist). The Marshall Tucker Band started touring with The Allman Brothers in 1973 and soon after released its debut album, Marshall Tucker Band, which went platinum. Each of the band's subsequent seven albums went either gold or platinum. Since 1980, the band has released about twenty albums, though none reached the success of the band's early work. The Marshall Tucker Band's two biggest singles were the 1977 releases “Heard It In a Love Song” and the reissue of its first single “Can’t You See.” Other hit singles include “Dream Love,” “Last of the Singing Cowboys,” and “Fire on the Mountain.”
