The Drums Bio

The Drums

Based in Brooklyn, New York City, The Drums is an indie pop band founded by members and childhood friends Jonathan Pierce and Jacob Graham. After releasing its first album Summertime! in October of 2009, The Drums made the list of the top 15 music acts on the prestigious BBC Sound of 2010. Soon, The Drums concerts were well-attended globally, having gained recognition for touring in support of huge bands like Kings of Leon and Florence & The Machine.

The Drums' first commercial success was the release of its 2010 debut self-titled studio album, which has since been certified Silver in the UK. The work featured hit singles like “Best Friend,” Me and the Moon,” and “Let’s Go Surfing,” all of which received generally positive reviews from critics.

The group cites The Wake, Orange Juice, The Smiths, The Legends, and The Shangri-las as some of its influences. As the band’s star grows brighter, The Drums tickets are harder and harder to come by. Be sure to buy yours as soon as they go on sale so you can sing along to crowd-favorite tracks like “Money” and “How It Ended.”

I want to buy you something but I don't have any money!!! The lyrics to The Drum's "Money" have become my personal anthem. This band is great and has a unique sound. You should definitely check out their music if you haven't heard them. They recently played The Echo and the crowd was amazing. Jonny has a weird dance on stage that is sort of addicting you'll probably end up trying to mimic him. Oh and is it just me or does Jonny end every song by saying "Thank you!" even though it sounds like "Zank you".
