Channeling the rambunctious spirit of traditional country music, The Charlie Daniels Band is a wild ride of Holstein-sized proportions. Lead by their namesake Charlie Daniels, the North Carolina-based sextet, not including the endless rotation of guest musicians, is a fun-loving force to be reckoned with, we reckon.
Daniels himself is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and most notably a fiddle player, who played along with country greats like Hank Williams Jr. and wrote tunes for the King himself. But it wasn’t until 1974’s platinum-selling Fire on the Mountain that the band hit it big, and not until 1979, when the Charlie Daniels Band released its Grammy-winning classic “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” a track about Daniels out-fiddling Lucifer himself, that the band gained the legendary status it now enjoys.
The Charlie Daniels Band live experience is country at its finest, as wily and versatile as Daniels’ fiddle playing. There’s everything from down-home attitude and whiskey-fueled rebellion to a hint of politics, all wrapped up in a love of good melody and good friends.
While the band’s been rocking stages and pitching woo for four decades now, the Charlie Daniels Band and its wild frontman show no signs of quitting, proving that you can take the boy out of the country, but…well, you know the rest.
