Swedish House Mafia Bio

Swedish House Mafia

Swedish House Mafia has been at the forefront of the global EDM craze. The supergroup is comprised of three of the biggest Swedish DJs and producers, including Steve Angello, Axwell, and Sebastian Ingrosso. Swedish House Mafia was birthed in 2008 and has ridden a wave of success to their spot at #12 of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ Poll in 2012.

Swedish House Mafia features live beats by the best DJs and producers in progressive house music and boasts three of the top 50 DJs in the world. In the 2012 DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll, Axwell ranked at #23 while Steve Angello placed at #57 and Sebastian Ingrosso came in at #34.

In 2010, Swedish House Mafia released their debut album Until One on Virgin. The album generated buzz across electronic music blogs and shot to number two on the UK charts before making Gold. The 2010 single “One”, made Gold in multiple countries and was classified Double Platinum in Sweden. And in 2012, Swedish House Mafia topped their previous success with Until Now, which topped the UK charts.

Tickets to Swedish House Mafia shows almost always sell out months in advance and attract a crowd of diehard EDM fans and ravers ready to dance all night.

skylar.hardenbrook Mar 26, 2013 I've enjoyed EDM for a long time (particularly trance and house, back from listening to trance in middle school), but due to other musical focuses, I never got that into it where I knew enough songs to differentiate artists, and definitely didn't grow with electronic music as it's blown up in recent years. I also never got started in the rave scene or attended massives with my friends, despite always having the option to. However, recently as a birthday present, I was given a ticket to Swedish House Mafia's last tour here in Los Angeles, and decided that it would be a good first-time experience given that so many people I knew were attending, and how important of an event it seemed to be. And consequently SHM really opened my eyes to why the EDM culture is so popular, because their set blew me away. It was probably a combination of the music selection, the company, but most importantly, the vibe they inspired from the crowd. During the other sets, not everyone was focused on the music, but as SHM came on, everything seemed to change and the collective positive atmosphere combined with the tracks they were dropping was amazing. My only complaint was it was too short and ended at midnight! Obviously I'm still a complete novice and I'm sure this experience is nothing unique to SHM, but I owe it to them for making it unforgettable, and I guess for drawing so many like-minded fans together for this final tour, which ultimately allowed for a newbie like me to have a great time!
Natalie Moyce Oct 4, 2012 The problem with Swedish House Mafia is they got so damn hyped that they just had to break up. I think that being together forced them all to be less creative somehow, because I love remixes of other songs that Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell do separately, but the songs they have made together are kind of lackluster. They are very anthemic, which is why certain songs (like One) get uber-popular for good reason, but then subsequently uber-annoying and overplayed. And now for some reason when they each play alone they still only play Swedish House Mafia songs, which is a shame. I just saw Sebastian Ingrosso at Nocturnal and he only played the most popular Swedish House songs that we've all heard a million times... I like those songs but I know he is capable of more.
