Sublime with Rome

Sublime with Rome is a ska-punk group developed in 2009 as a semi-revival of the 1990s band Sublime. The band began as a collaboration between two former Sublime members, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, and added Rome Ramirez as the new front man.

Sublime with Rome is very similar in style to the band Sublime, whose front man Bradley Nowell passed away in 1996, after which the band broke up. When Sublime’s former members decided to revive the band with Ramirez, they began touring as Sublime again, but because the rights to the name were in Nowell’s name, Wilson and Gaugh were forced to update their name to Sublime with Rome.

Sublime with Rome concerts attract a very chill, laid-back crowd that includes many of the original band’s followers. The band released the album Yours Truly in 2011 and has been touring regularly since then. Although some claim the new front man isn’t as good as Nowell, Rome Ramirez has successfully contributed a fresh new sound to the band’s original aesthetic.
