Unlike the countless pseudo-hippie and jam bands in 1990s New York who never made it, Spin Doctors hit it big due to their ability to write tight, concise songs with blues licks and pop melodies, and their skills earned them Grammy Award and American Music Award nominations in the mid 90s.

Pocket Full of Kryptonite, the band’s debut album, has sold over five million copies in the U.S. and another five million overseas, and peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. The album’s popularity was propelled by popular and memorable singles “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong,” both of which became 90s anthems.

While Rolling Stone said the band wasn’t “blazing any new trails,” the proof of the group’s success was “in the party” created by their music.

Spin Doctors have performed on Saturday Night Live, Late Show with David Letterman, and many other TV shows. The band has performed with Widespread Panic, Blues Traveller, and Phish.
