Rush began in 1971 when John Rutsey, Geddy Lee, and Alex Lifeson came together to produce hard rock and heavy metal music. Originally gaining notoriety in their home country of Canada, Rush’s first success in the United States was with their debut album, Rush. The success of Rush lead the band to produce 19 other albums, the most prominent album being Moving Pictures, which was released in 1981 and has sold over 4.4 million units. Throughout their ongoing and extremely lucrative career, Rush has released 24 gold albums and 14 platinum records, three of which went on to become multiplatinum. Congrats to Rush for being selected for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They've waited a long time...might not be the most innovative, loved, or flashy rock band in the world, but they have churned out tons of hits and definitely have a place in rock history. Their induction is well deserved.
