One Direction

One Direction was the leader of the boy band resurgence of 2012 and became the figurehead of a modern British Invasion into the United States. The band members – Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson – all auditioned separately for the seventh season of the British TV show, The X Factor, but joined forces at the suggestion of Nicole Scherzinger (one of the show’s judges).

After finishing third on the show, the group would capitalize on their popularity and ink a deal with Simon Cowell’s Synco label. One Direction has already sold over eight million albums in their young career, backed by massively popular singles “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Live While We’re Young.”
