Metallica has had its ups and downs, career highlights, and of course multiple bassists, but there's no denying that they are among the most important rock acts to ever exist, and probably the best thrash metal band ever. It's hard to go wrong with the incredible musicianship of the band members, especially Kirk Hammett, but as the general music critic world would probably agree with, I'd point to their first 3 albums as the essential highlights of their discography (maybe I've just been a little tired of hearing "Enter Sandman" overplayed throughout my entire life and grade The Black Album a little lower...) My personal favorite is Ride The Lightning. Kill 'Em All was their raw and snarling debut, Master Of Puppets was a full-blown metal epic, but Ride The Lightning was a perfect bridge between the two. Even with their subsequent catalog being a bit weaker, the strength of those first albums is enough to secure Metallica's spot as rock legends. I'd love to see them live one day, I'm sure it would be an unforgettable experience.

The first metal band I ever heard and I have never looked back! What an introduction it was into the 'Rock'genre. I have never tired of listening to them, even now when I listen to master of puppets, it gets me headbanging or somewhat close to it as headbanging in the office is not considered normal behavior. Some of my favorite songs are Master of Puppets, sanitorium, enter sandman, turn the page and list goes on. I have never been to their concert and its on top of my bucket list.

And on the Seventh day God said "Let there be Metallica". Well, He must have else there is no reasonable or logical explanation on how a band EPIC as this was formed and is still going. I have been a huge (Huge is an understatement. Titanicaly Giganticular might be a better word if it existed) fan of Metallica since I started following Metal! I have almost all their albums from Kill 'em all to St. Anger and I love every album except St. Anger. As most of the Metalli"cats" must have guessed by now, I am not a big fan of Robert Trujillo. There is no denying that he is an awesome Bass Guitarist but I think he was better off with Ozzy. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett- Well what do you say about these guys? Truly Gods of Metal! Also when Kirk Hammett first started, he was taking private guitar lessons from Joe Satriani! You want a better lead Guitarist? He is not Born yet! PERIOD. Cliff Burton just knocked my socks off in "The Four Horsemen" and "Whiplash". As far as Dave Mustaine is concerned...he can go suck on an eggshell if he thinks he needs to get credit for any of those songs! My favorite albums are The Black Album in the Jason Newsted era and Ride the Lightning in the Cliff Burton era. Sorry Trujillo, no luck here! My favorite songs are (Buckle up, this is gonna be a long one): Whiplash, The Four Horsemen, Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Battery, Enter Sandman, Don't Tread on Me, Nothing Else Matters, Fuel, Memory Remains, Unforgiven, Unforgiven II, The God That Failed.....Out of respect for you folks, I am going to stop here and I have only covered 25% of my list! Long Live Metallica!
