Born in 1972 in Tehran, Iran as Maziyar Jobrani, Maz Jobrani is a stand-up comedian who was part of the Axis of Evil comedy group, which included Ahmed Ahmed, Aron Kader, and Dean Obeidallah, and delved into issues of race, religion, politics, immigration and other controversial subjects.
Jobrani was raised in Tiburon outside of San Francisco, CA and started performing in 1994. His comedy career spans movies, TV, and stand-up and he has appeared on everything from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to The Colbert Report. He has starred in the films The Interpreter, 13 Going on 30, and Friday After Next.
Maz is most well-known though for his Axis of Evil Comedy Tour which brought together Middle Eastern comedians that took on controversial topics in the region. Comedy Central gave the group their own special in 2007 but has since broken up.
Maz Jobrani continues to tour around the world performing off his solo act “Maz Jobrani: Brown and Friendly” and subsequent “Browner and Friendlier”. Maz Jobrani tickets typically sell out, especially during global tours in the Middle East.
