Malcolm "Mac Miller" McCormick was born in Pittsburg, PA in 1992. At the age of 6, he taught himself piano, drums, guitar, bass, and the art of rhyme. Influenced by the Beastie Boys, Outkast, and A Tribe Called Quest, this master of music started aggressively pursuing a career in rap at the mere age of 14.
In 2010, Miller signed with indie label Rostrum Records and released the mixtape K.I.D.S. Later that year, he embarked on a sold-out tour, establishing his status in the hip hop scene.
The chart-topping Blue Side Park was released in fall 2011 and has sold over 250,000 albums. Miller made history with this record, becoming the first independent artist to reach the top of the Billboard charts since Snoop Dogg in 1995. He also released his EP On and On and Beyond (2011), which sold over 75,000 copies in digital outlets alone. Taking the music world by storm, he began headlining music festivals all over the United States.
Miller's style has often been dubbed as "frat rap" since his music resembles the ambiance of a college frat party—easygoing and energetic. He is most notorious for his humorous themes, his fun beats, and his wildly viral music videos. His music video for "Donald Trump" alone has reached over 75 million views on YouTube. This young rapper is now one of the biggest names in the game, and he's only getting started.
