Lady Gaga Bio

Lady Gaga

Born in 1986 in New York City, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, otherwise known as Lady Gaga, is an American singer-songwriter who first achieved notoriety her debut album The Fame in 2008. The Fame sold over 12 million albums with the help of hit songs like “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”.

After The Fame and subsequent The Fame Ball Tour, Gaga released The Fame Monster featuring hit single “Bad Romance”. The album was an instant hit and Gaga quickly took over the music world selling out the biggest arenas and stadiums around the globe and piling up every music award along the way.

Lady Gaga has since released Born This Way (2011) with the eponymous hit single in addition to “Judas” and “The Edge of Glory”.

Lady Gaga is known for pushing the envelope both on and off the stage as she sings candidly about sex, drugs, homosexuality, and religion. She’s been a vocal advocate for the LGBT community in addition to supporting the fight against HIV and AIDS. Her Born This Way Foundation focuses on career development, self-confidence, and anti-bullying.

Lady Gaga has sold over 23 million albums around the world and tickets to Lady Gaga shows typically sell out in minutes.

Whether you agree or not, Lady Gaga has been one of the most influential artist of this decade. You can hear or see her everywhere. She has done three albums and the fourth one, Artpop, is forthcoming. It is comforting that the lyrics of her songs have gradually improved along the years, while the melody remains catchy for the most part. Yet her music style is mostly overlooked because people pay more attention to her dressing or non-dressing style and her dance moves in music videos as well as in public appearances. That's the perks of seeing her at live performances. Her innovative and sometimes slightly outrageous approach of clothes and stage designs have provoked much controversies during the years, but it's the originality and creativity that matter. It would be great if she can also apply more such creativity in her music.

The little I say about Lady Gaga the better it is. However, I truly wait for the day when she will write a book and tell us how she created this character called Lady Gaga which I think should go down as one of the best marketing gimmicks I have ever seen. The only reason I decided to say a little is because I happened to have a chance meeting with her when she arrived at the next door office which is a sound recording studio, she was a little taken aback when I wished her with her actual name "Stefani" instead of "Lady Gaga" as I found it to be weird to call someone by that name. She was however, quite sweet and didn't really seem to have any airs and for a minute I felt I saw the lil Stefani in her or I just might have been hallucinating because of the California heat.

Highly recommend any Gaga hater to listen to the interview she did with Howard Stern. I used to think that she was all gimmick and little talent, but that was before I really had a chance to hear what she has to say. She is brilliant and one of the few exciting and unpredictable music acts we have today. She's like Madonna but without the attitude and British accent. Her interview with Stern was awesome. She performed the song "Edge of Glory" live on the show and beforehand told a chilling story about her grandfather and how his passing was the inspiration for the song. Her performance was flawless and haunting. She understands music, is super smart and savvy, and I'm excited to see what else she has coming.

Lady Gaga is an awkward, and brilliantly creative person. Sometimes she does things that seem inspired, original, and poignant. Sometimes they are just weird and come across as awkward. Her life is performance art similar to Madonna. Her music can be good, or at least good catchy pop music, but a lot of times it is not that interesting. I love seeing what she is going to do next, but never eagerly await her next single so much as her next public appearance.

I do not understand the appeal of Lady Gaga. She is incredibly strange for the sake of being strange and for attention, and nothing else. Aside from her strange appearance and videos, her songs are incredibly generic. She has to rely so much on her appearance to mask that she really is not that original. She is a good performer and a hard worker, but I think the world gives her too much credit. This is evident in the music video for for "Video Phone" with Beyonce (not to be confused with "Telephone") Next to Beyonce, Lady Gaga looks like she had no idea how to move her body in front of a camera, and even when Gaga is dancing and Beyonce is standing in the background, your eyes go to Beyonce. Lady Gaga tries to hard, and should really focus more on making good music than making that ridiculous image of hers.
