Pop singer-songwriter and pianist Jon McLaughlin was born in Indiana in 1982 and, after overcoming two shattered wrists from an accident, studied music at Anderson University. The school’s own record label, Orangehaus Records, released McLaughlin's album Up Until Now in 2003. After signing with Island Records, McLaughlin started touring with acts like Kelly Clarkson, O.A.R., and Sister Hazel and appearing at events like Milwaukee Summerfest and Lollapalooza. He also released the albums Indiana and OK Now with Island. McLaughlin's music has appeared in the TV shows Scrubs and The Ghost Whisperer and the films Bridge to Terabithia, Georgia Rule, and Enchanted, in which he appeared as himself. The song he performed for Enchanted, “So Close” -- written by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz -- was nominated for an Oscar, so McLaughlin had the opportunity to play at the awards ceremony. McLaughlin also co-wrote “Everytime You Lie” and “Falling Over Me” for Demi Lovato.
