Ingrid Michaelson was born in 1979 in Staten Island. Since then, this New York-based singer-songwriter has churned out indie-pop hits that have been featured in TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Scrubs, and Bones. Even after topping charts around the world, this indie artist has yet to sign to a major record label, choosing to showcase her works through her own label, Cabin 24 Records, as well as social media.
Ingrid first started self-recording in 2002, streaming singles on Myspace and performing small sets at open mic nights and cafés in New York City. With the 2002 release of her debut album Slow the Rain, Ingrid attracted a diehard fan base from all around the world.
After playing smaller venues in the city, the years of hard work finally paid off in 2008 with the release of Be OK. The album generated buzz across some of the biggest music blogs and debuted at #35 on the Billboard charts. The next year, Ingrid followed her wave of success with Everybody which debuted at #18 on the Billboard charts and its single “Maybe” was featured on episodes of Body of Proof and In Plain Sight.
In 2010, Ingrid Michaelson became a national-recognized star with her performance of “Winter Song” for President Obama at the National Christmas Tree Lighting. Co-written with Sara Bareilles, “Winter Song” shot up to #2 on the Irish Singles Chart in 2011. And in 2012, Ingrid released Human Again, which quickly topped the Billboard charts at #5.
Ingrid Michaelson brings her lyrical indie-pop show all around the world. In 2012, her first major concerts for The Human Again Tour were sold out for almost every night. Tickets to see Ingrid Michaelson live in person tend to sell out fast to indie fans ready to sing along to her popular introspective hits.
