Imagine Dragons Bio

Formed in 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Imagine Dragons is an indie pop-rock band that stayed relatively under the radar until it charged onto the scene in 2012 after signing with Interscope Records and releasing its debut album. With the sudden skyrocketing popularity came the revelation that their band name, Imagine Dragons, is actually an anagram whose original words are being kept under wraps by the band members.

Imagine Dragons’ debut album, Night Visions, reached #2 on the Billboard charts, with the singles “It’s Time” and “Radioactive” both reaching the Top 15 on Billboard’s Hot 100.  “It’s Time” not only saw success on the radio, but also went platinum as a single in under a year. The video for “It’s Time” was also nominated for the MTV award for Best Rock Video. Imagine Dragons live shows are high-energy and exciting, which explains why the band sold out its 2013 North American tour in a matter of weeks. However, while tickets to Imagine Dragons shows are clearly difficult to come by, they are generally affordable when available.

I saw them at The Wiltern on 3/20/13. Cannot say enough positive things. Great, energy and passion! They put on one of the best shows I have seen for a smaller band. I would highly recommend seeing them in concert if you like their music at all.

Imagine Dragons has a discernible style, very indie meets electronic, so I can always pick out their songs when it comes on my shuffle. I'm still trying to categorize this band into a playlist because while their songs are fairly upbeat, especially "On Top of the World," I do think that some of their tracks contain a kind of a haunting, some may say depressing, undercurrent. You really have to be in a specific mood to listen to them. I really like the song, "Radioactive," and I wish they did more of the same kind of stuff in the rest of their album! Regardless, I definitely want to catch them in concert; I hear they are great live!

I saw them at the Observatory in Santa Ana with AWOL Nation, and Imagine Dragons definitely stole the show.

Imagine Dragons launched a monster hit earlier this year with “It’s Time”…the song rocks and I get amped every time I hear it. Then they released a full length album “Night Visions” a few weeks ago…and after my first couple listens I’m pretty disappointed. It’s always hard to follow up after such a hugely successful song but I was really expecting more energy and more rock. The album is much more poppy and electronic than I was expecting, and even a little depressing. I really want to like these guys and will give the album a few more run throughs, but I’m afraid they may be headed toward one-hit wonderdom.

It is official now! I love Indie Music...and this band is just beautiful. Their song "It's Time" is played all over the radio. If you love Indie Music I definitely recommend this band a listen. I especially love the song "Demons". This is an up coming band and I can't wait to see them when they open for AWOLNATION at Club Nokia!
