Hollywood Undead burst onto the scene with their debut album Swan Songs in 2008, and it didn't take long for the band to find success; the album hit number 22 on the Billboard 200 in its first week of release after selling over 21,000 copies. Listeners were immediately taken with Hollywood Undead’s mix of rock, brash hip-hop, minor metalcore, and thug attitudes. Swan Songs went on to sell 887,000 copies, spawned four music videos, and had songs featured in popular movie trailers and video games.
In 2009, the band followed up Swan with a CD/DVD set release called Desperate Measures, which featured six new songs and live recordings of some songs from Swan, and that peaked at number 29 on the Billboard 200. Hollywood Undead performances soon became some of the most popular around the world.
Hollywood Undead released its much-anticipated second studio album, American Tragedy, in 2011; its “Been to Hell” track was voted the fifth best rock song on the AOL Radio Top 10 Rock Songs of 2011. Tragedy debuted at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200 and charted in a few other countries including Canada and the UK.
