Gin Blossoms

Gin Blossoms is a 1990s music success story if there ever was one. The band became popular in the college pop scene and was known as the pioneer of the lighter side of alternative rock with its 1991 debut EP, Up & Crumbling. Gin Blossoms released its debut studio album, New Miserable Experience, in 1992 to little fanfare and lukewarm reviews. Initially, it seemed the band would not be able to translate their popularity in the college circuit to commercial success.

However, nearly a year after Experience was released, the single “Hey Jealousy” became an instant classic and peaked at number four on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The single “Found Out about You” followed and reached number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Experience eventually reached multi-platinum status, backed by other successful singles like “Mrs. Rita,” “Until I Fall Away,” and “Found Out about You.”

The band broke up in 1997, two years after another successful single, “Till I Hear It from You,” became a major radio hit. Gin Blossoms eventually reunited in 2001.
