Alt-rock band Garbage, formed in 1994 in Madison, Wisconsin, is comprised of Scottish frontwoman Shirley Manson, probably the best-known member of the band, Duke Erikson (bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums). The band members had all worked previously on various grunge projects and came together to write their music, starting with the debut album Garbage in 1995. The band had hit singles in the mid-90s, including “Only Happy When It Rains” “Stupid Girl,” “Push It,” and “I Think I’m Paranoid.” Garbage contributed the theme song for the James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough and has had its music appear in films like Romeo + Juliet. In all, Garbage has released five studio albums, with the first two, Garbage and Version 2.0, going platinum in the U.S. Though Manson has a solo career and also works as an actress and model, the band still records and tours together.
