Frightened Rabbit Bio

Frightened Rabbit

Formed in Selkirk, Scotland in 2003, Frightened Rabbit is an indie folk rock band led by front man, lead singer and guitarist Scott Hutchinson. After playing local shows and giving out free demos for three years, Frightened Rabbit made it onto the scene with the release of their first album Sing the Greys in 2006. Outside of music, Frightened Rabbit has made a name for themselves with their charitable efforts, especially their work with Invisible Children.

Since the release of Sing the Greys, Frightened Rabbit has released three additional studio albums, with both The Winter of Mixed Drinks (2010), and Pedestrian Verse (2013) reaching the UK Billboard Top 100 charts. The band’s single, “State Hospital” also reached the UK Billboard Top 100 charts. Frightened Rabbit shows range from mellow and relaxed to upbeat and loud, making for a fun night with the Scots. Tickets to Frightened Rabbit concerts are affordable and generally not too difficult to find.

I've seen only seen Frightened Rabbit live once, but that one time still resonates so strongly whenever I hear their music. Their sound is so lush, their harmonies are amazing, and their lead singer is incredibly charming. Scottish accent and all. You can't help but love them. Seeing them live -- all the work that goes into the instrumentation and hearing them talk about the thought process behind the songwriting itself -- actually made me hear their music differently. It was an incredibly special experience that I haven't yet found with any other band.
