Rapper DMX is a Grammy Award nominee and American Music Award winner from Mount Vernon, New York. The performer’s debut album, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, released in 1998, is considered a classic in rap circles and touched on themes of violence, rage, and religion. The album established DMX as an influential and powerful force in urban music.

In 1999, DMX released his third studio album, …And Then There Was X, which debuted at number one on the Billboard chart, making DMX the only hip-hop artist to have his first three albums enter the Billboard Top 200 chart at the top spot. The album, backed by timeless singles “What’s My Name” and “Party Up (Up in Here),” sold nearly seven hundred thousand albums and remains DMX’s best-selling album to date.
