Diana Krall

Diana Krall was born November 16, 1964 in British Columbia and obtained a passion for jazz music at an early age by listening to her father play piano while her mother sang in the community choir. Krall began to take up piano as well at the age of four and started to play jazz music at a local restaurant by the time she was 15. After attending the prominent Berklee College of Music in Boston, Krall moved to Los Angeles in hope of signing a record label.

Krall released her first album, Stepping Out, in 1993, which earned her the attention of producer Tommy LiPuma, who eventually produced her second album, Only Trust Your Heart (1995). Krall’s fame as a jazz singer and pianist skyrocketed after her second album and her third album, All for You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio (1996), was nominated for a Grammy while remaining on the Billboard Jazz Charts for 70 weeks. Throughout her career, Krall has recorded a total of 11 albums while bringing in a number of awards, such as Best Jazz Vocal Album (1996, 1997, 2003, 2007), Album of the Year (2000, 2008), Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists (2005, 2010), and many others.
