Cosmic Gate Bio

Cosmic Gate

Formed in 1999, Cosmic Gate is a German trance duo comprised of Claus Terhoeven (Nic Chagall) and Stefan Bossems (DJ Bossi). The debut Cosmic Gate single “The Drums” came out the year the DJs joined forces and was followed by new singles nearly every year since then. Much of the duo’s early work charted in Germany and other European nations. Cosmic Gate gained worldwide notoriety when its single "Fire Wire" was released in the U.K. in 2001.

Cosmic Gate is known for its many remixes, reworking  music by Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Blank & Jones, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, Svenson & Gielen, Vanessa-Mae, and others. Some Cosmic Gate albums include Rhythm & Drums (2001), No More Sleep (2002), Earth Mover (2006), Sign of the Times (2009), and Wake Your Mind (2011).

Over the past few years, Cosmic Gate has moved away from the hard trance that defined its earlier work, to a more subtle progressive style. Now on the road, Cosmic Gate tickets are sure to sell out fast. Don’t miss Cosmic Gate live at a venue near you. Be sure to check for Cosmic Gate tour dates today!

I saw Cosmic Gate at the Hollywood Palladium this weekend for their "Wake Your Mind" tour, and I have to say it was one of the best EDM shows I've seen thus far. After being underwhelmed by the opening DJ (Audien), Cosmic Gate came out with the full visuals and lights that the Palladium had to offer, and brought an amazing set full of atmospheric but intense trance, drops that hit hard, and a minimal use of the commercial sing-along tracks that many DJs tend to overuse for crowd appeal... just hours of floor-filling beats. The energy in the place was amazing! The duo split up to spin solo for parts of the set, and came together for vocal appearances by Jonathan Mendelsohn and Emma Hewitt, and for their closing songs. Ben Gold came on to close from 3-4 AM and was equally amazing. It was my first time seeing Cosmic Gate, but they instantly shot up to the top tier of my favorites list!
