I'm a considerably larger fan of Chicago's early period, before Terry Kath died, when their sound was more jazz-based and creative, and I guess just before the natural shift in pop production styles really cleaned up Chicago's sound for the late 70s and beyond. Tracks from their first few albums like "Beginnings" (an amazing track, my personal favorite), "25 or 6 to 4", and "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" are essential rock pieces of their time. Nevertheless, I think it would still be amazing to see Chicago live simply due to how remarkable of a career the group has had, with several of its core members staying in place since the band's inception and a consistent output of material for 40 years. Those who are more adventurous should check out the group's first album, Chicago Transit Authority, which is definitely the most experimental and varied effort by the band.
