Big Sean Bio

Big Sean

Born Sean Michael Anderson in Santa Monica, California, Big Sean grew up in west Detroit, where he was raised by his mother and grandmother. While still attending Cass Technical High School from which he’d eventually graduate with a 3.7 GPA, Big Sean participated in weekly rap battles held by local hip-hop station WHTD and formed valuable relationships with some of the station’s staff.

In 2005, Big Sean visited WPZR’s 102.7 FM studios when Kanye West was in town for an interview. Big Sean got West to listen to him freestyle for sixteen musical bars; West left with Sean’s mixtape and eventually signed the young Detroit rapper to his GOOD Music record label.

In 2011, Big Sean released his debut studio album, Finally Famous, which received favorable critical reviews and commercial success, selling eighty-seven thousand copies in its first week. West produced the album, on which Chris Brown provides vocals for the hit single “My Last,” a number one hit on the U.S. rap songs chart.

Under the tutelage of West and other rap icons, Big Sean’s performances have become some of the hottest shows around. The young rapper continues to build on his success and will release his second album, Hall of Fame, later in 2013.

"Okay, this to all of my enemies that seeing me gettin' guap right now, seeing me gettin' guap right now, seeing me gettin' guap right now" These were one of the legendary lyrics Big Sean graced us with that night. He came to London to perform in the Hammersmith Apollo, where he opened with his FANTASTIC DJ, 'DJ Mo Beatz' spinning the best Trap Music, Hip-Hop and Rap. Who warmed the crowd up nicely. Then Sean came out and opened up with a track from his latest Mixtape 'Detroit' entitled 'RWT', this got the audience hype, with the deep thumps of the 808 bass in the tune. Then he gave a brief talk about his journey and how glad he was to be in England. Then he took us through his whole back catalogue, I'm talking the 'Finally Famous' mixtape trilogy, songs from the album with 'GOOD Music'. He even brought 'Meek Mill' out to perform ‘Burn!’ He performed hit, after hit, after hit. The crowd was moshing out to his lyrics, Sean's hype, delivery, and interactive skills definitely made him of the best performers of the year. He really engaged the audience. SO, if you're a fan of Sean, where ever he performs, be there!!
