Born Alicia Augello Cook in Manhattan, New York City in 1981, Alicia Keys is an American singer-songwriter and actress who first achieved fame with the release of her debut album Songs in A Minor in 2001. With over 35 million albums and 30 million singles sold worldwide, Alicia Keys is considered to be one of the most talented artists of the decade. Billboard magazine also labeled her as one of the top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop artists of the past 25 years.
Songs in a Minor debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was then followed by a series of some of the performer’s greatest hits, such as “Fallin” and “A Woman’s Worth”. Her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, which contains popular hits such as “If I Ain’t Got You” and “You Don’t Know My Name”, received the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album in 2004.
Aside from her music career, Alicia Keys also had roles in numerous blockbuster films, such as Smokin’ Aces and The Nanny Diaries.
Alicia Keys has collaborated with various artists on several popular songs, such as “My Boo” with Usher and “Empire State of Mind” with Jay-Z.
