In 2011, Alabama Shakes released their self-titled four-song EP, which soon garnered buzz on music blogs and NPR. Later that year, a career-launching performance at CMJ helped the band sign with Rough Trade Records in the UK and ATO in the US. Alabama Shakes released their debut full-length album, Boys & Girls, in 2012. The debut topped the charts in the UK and the US and was certified gold in the UK.

Alabama Shakes has gained millions of fans through their records and appearances on shows like Conan, the Late Show with David Letterman, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. The band has a reputation for putting on an energetic concert and was nominated for the 2012 mtvU Woodie in Best Live Performance.

Recently, Alabama Shakes have performed at festivals like Bestival and Bonnaroo. The band continues to make new music, including a series of singles for Jack White’s Third Man Records. Khristian Karilo Sep 27, 2012 Was upset I missed their set at 2012 Outside Lands, especially after hearing that they got one of the biggest crowds in the whole festival. But then I got a chance to see them live 2 days after the festival and let me just say that they were so great live. Brittany has a bigger than life personality, that just lights up the whole room. They don't need no explosions, confetti or lazers. Just a band, a stage, and a crowd. Brittany's voice reminds me of a modern Janis Joplin. So raw and fun. If you guys ever get a chance to see them live, do it. You won't be disappointed.

alvega Sep 21, 2012 The effects of passion and music were evident song after song with the roar of yells and applause from the crowd even when Brittany was not belting out her signature intense sound. Brittany is such a passionate and fun performer that success has not gone to her head, at least not on stage. With their fun blues combined with southern rock sound, Alabama Shakes has been the first band to give me goosebumbs song after song. After seeing Alabama Shakes live, I have no doubts as to how they achieved fame over night. If you’re looking for a floor-shaking live show, Alabama Shakes is a must see. Only compliant is their short set. Their songs are too short. Or perhaps it is that they are so enjoyable that time flies by. Regardless, Alabama Shakes are no disappointment.

Danny Milner Aug 24, 2012 Alabama Shakes has had an amazing year. Their debut album Boys & Girls is awesome and I am blown away by Brittany Howard’s voice. I missed them when they were in LA a few weeks ago but hope to get see them live some time soon. If they continue to put out songs like ‘Hold On’ and ‘I Found You’ and other great blues rock and soul songs I can see these guys being around for a very long time. If you have the opportunity to see them in concert make sure to get tickets.

Chris Morgan Aug 16, 2012 The Alabama Shakes are a total throwback and it's awesome. You could drop them into any decade from the 60s on and they would still fit in, kind of a timeless rock and roll sound. They are similar to the Black Keys in that respect. "Hold On" is a great song as is "I Found You". I'd love to see them live, too bad their LA date is in Pomona. I totally thought the lead vocalist was a man when I first heard it on the radio.
