Adam Carolla Bio

Adam Carolla

Comedian, radio commentator, and television personality Adam Carolla was born in Los Angeles in 1964. While working odd jobs and studying improv comedy, he befriended Jimmy Kimmel, who has been a longtime collaborator. In 1995, Carolla, with his distinctive voice, was offered a co-hosting gig on the hugely popular nationwide radio show Loveline, where he dispensed sex and relationship advice alongside “Dr. Drew” Pinsky. In the meantime, he created and co-hosted Comedy Central’s The Man Show with Kimmel, which aired from 1999 to 2003. Carolla left Loveline in 2005 to broadcast the syndicated radio program The Adam Carolla Show. Carolla has appeared on a series of shows, ranging from his own talk show Too Late with Adam Carolla in 2005 to Family Guy, on which he voices Death. Recently, Carolla has been a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, partnered with Julianne Hough, and The Celebrity Apprentice. Two of his comedic books, In Fifty Years We’ll All Be Chicks… and Not Taco Bell Material, have been New York Times bestsellers. Adam Carolla is also an amateur racecar driver and co-owner of Amalfi restaurant in Los Angeles.

My exposure to Adam Carolla has been primarily over the radio, but ever since hearing him a lot back in the day on Loveline alongside Dr. Drew, I realized how hilarious he was, and he deserves the accomplishment he's earned for world's most downloaded podcast. As still a regular listener of KROQ's Kevin and Bean morning show, I look forward to his weekly appearances with the feature "This Week In Rage", where Adam rants about things that annoy him in the world -- the kind of situations, people's habits, and the most seemingly random things that you'd probably never think could be the target of a rant, but will make you say "hey, he's right!" afterwards. It's a combination of Adam's ability to be completely blunt, his obvious annoyance at dumb things that is portrayed in his voice, and his ability to rant on basically anything from culture to stereotypes to race to religion to the smallest nuances of everyday life, while remaining consistently hilarious and remarkably truthful at the same time, which make him one of my favorites to listen to.
