Humboldt Park, nestled into the eponymous neighborhood in Chicago, is a 207 acre green space filled with trails and even two lagoons connected by a man-made river. It was opened all the way back in 1877, is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the iconic Humboldt Park Stables and Receptory was inaugurated as a Chicago landmark in 2008.
The park is currently a staple of the local Puerto Rican community, and recently leased the Stables to house the Institute of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture. The park also features multiple gymnasiums, soccer fields, recreational and youth sports programs, and even an inland beach for locals to enjoy. Events at Humboldt Park include free outdoor movie screenings, concerts, and holiday celebrations.
