As one of the few higher-ed institutions in the western suburbs, Naperville’s North Central College plays a big role in bringing cultural events to the area. Among its facilities is the Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center. Built in 2008, Wentz Hall is a modern triumph of acoustic design. The glassy venue’s acoustic consultants also worked on Chicago’s Pritzker Pavilion, which is world-renowned for its excellent sound. Wentz Hall’s design makes use of many clever tricks, such as hidden sound chambers, to enhance the concert-going experience.
Most events at Wentz Hall are classical, jazz, and contemporary concerts. Visiting performers include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Yo-Yo Ma, Herbie Hancock, and Colbie Caillat. The Chicago Sinfonietta and DuPage Symphony Orchestra make Wentz Hall their home. Additionally, Wentz Hall hosts many high school and North Center College musical performances.
With a main floor and balcony, Wentz Concert Hall seats 617, making for an intimate concert experience. DuPage Symphony Orchestra tickets range from $12-$30, and Chicago Sinfonietta tickets are in the $40-$50 range.
