Chicago Bears Info

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears currently play NFL football at Soldier Field (on the Windy City’s beautiful lakefront), which was originally built in the early 1920s and has a seating capacity of 61,500. The Bears play in the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC), which also includes other Midwest powerhouses like the Green Bay Packers. Originally named the Decatur Staleys (after the former owner the A.E. Staley Company), George Halas renamed the team the Bears in 1922 after moving them to Chicago the previous year, when the team became one of the charter franchises of the National Football League. The Bears have won multiple division, conference, and NFL Championships, and one Super Bowl title, and have featured superstars such as Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Brian Piccolo, Brian Urlacher, and Dick Butkus. Bears tickets are always hard to come by as the team nearly sells out every game regardless of how cold or windy it gets. Bears games are notoriously affected by the elements as half of the season is inevitably played in the rain, snow, and infamous Chicago winds.

Despite Jay Cutler and crew's best efforts, the Bears will not be an exciting offensive team in the near future. Watching a Bears game typically means watching a ton of field goals, a least a few turnovers (both caused by the Bears' D and Cutler's decision making), and a fairly close game. Bears fans are diehard and games at Soldier Field will be packed no matter what with the parking lot tailgating scene raging on regardless of their record or the weather. Basically, whether the Bears are home or away, the game will often be close, rather uneventful offensively, but still fun because of the environment produced by the crowd and the tendency to win or lose games in the last 5 minutes.

I can't get on the Chicago Bears band wagon this year. The Chicago Bears beat the Dallas Cowboys but that doesn't mean much. Tony NoNo just can't get it done in Dallas so I don't give the Bears much credit for that win. I think Cutler is a loser and won't be able to take the Bears too far. He's a tremendous head case and I don't think he has the locker room behind him. Just wait for the Cutler meltdown. It will happen soon.
