The Gregorian (sometimes called the “Christian” or “Western”) calendar is the most widely agreed upon worldwide timekeeper. It designates December 31 as the last day of the year, and not surprisingly, people around the globe – regardless of their nationality, gender, or religion – see it as cause to celebrate.

New Year’s Eve is full of streamers, champagne, resolutions, and midnight kisses in every major worldwide metropolis. One of the most fun cities in which to spend New Year’s Eve is Chicago. The Windy City is home to a slew of fancy soirees including the Chicago-Scene New Year’s Eve Party at the Drake Hotel. Taking place in the heart of the Gold Coast, the event invites well-dressed attendees to sip on top-notch champagne as they dance to tunage played by Top-40 DJs.

Chicagoans looking to get more sloppy than swanky participate in the New Year’s Eve PubCrawl Chicago. Past participating New Year’s Eve bars on this trek include the rowdy Dugout Sports Bar (in the shadow of nearby Wrigley Field, among many others.

Chicago has something for everyone come December 31.  The Second City is one of the best places in which to welcome the first day of the promising year ahead.
