Though bars are easily the most common nighttime destination, an array of clubs, lounges, and music venues draw crowds for all kinds of events in Chicago.
Jazz and blues are so deeply embedded in its history that “Chicago blues” and “Chicago jazz” are considered distinct musical styles, and both are still vitally important facets of the current live music scene. Beautifully restored concert halls book big names downtown, while finding a dirty dive with an indie performer is a breeze in almost any neighborhood, be it in famously hip Wicker Park/Bucktown or tourist-heavy Streeterville.
In addition to a long tradition of live music, Chicago is also known for incredible comedy – demonstrated nightly by Second City – in addition to theater and performance venues.
Rounding out all the great Chicago events are the myriad festivals, parades, concerts, shopping events, sports, and more that pack the Windy City’s event schedule on a daily basis.
