Party Earth Webster's Wine Bar Review

The Scene

Chicago's Webster's Wine Bar is an unpretentious Lincoln Park bar with a huge amount of wine and yummy food. Pop into this Chicago lounge with Party Earth.

Inspired by a couple's trip to a wine bar in Spain – and their lassitude about remaining in the litigation world – Webster's Wine Bar is an unpretentious little venue that bottles up a whole world of wine.

Whether to vie for the budget-friendly flights, the featured wine, the informative classes, or just to lay waste to a brick of Bandaged Cheddar, guests settle in at romantic candlelit tables, ready to whet their appetites.

Muted brown walls hung with paintings by local artists and windows veiled with sweeping curtains create an intimate atmosphere, while a long wooden bar on one side of the room offers a cozy place for couples and chill friends to gather before catching a movie at the theater complex down the street.

A narrow staircase on the other side leads patrons up to another bar complete with a fireplace and several tables perfect for those in the mood for a private tasting.

Wine connoisseurs and wine wannabes alike make their way toward the back, where they can peruse the giant wooden cabinet full of esteemed grapey goodness before settling in at the tables or on the soft velvet couches to work their way through the 500+ varietals available.

Music Mondays host an ever-changing lineup of live acts, but even when there’s just the ambient mix off the sound system, the joint is loud with clinking glasses and lively conversation.

Dedicated to education as much as refined inebriation, Webster's Wine Bar is the definition of good drink for all.

Great First Date place
Chris M. Aug 17, 2012
Other than being a little out of the way from public transportation, Webster Wine Bar is a great first date spot (you're not going to take your date on a bus, right?). In fact, myself and both of my roommates at the time all used this for a first date at some point. One of them took a girl from DePaul and that was really convenient. There is a lot of good wine to be had, but for novices like me it is not too pretentious and not too expensive. And even though they can tell right away that you know nothing about wine, they won't call you out in front of your date which is appreciated as well. The decor is nice, though a little plain in some parts, but the fireplace is great. Also, as the review mentions, it is close the movie theater which can pair nicely for a date as there are relatively few movie theaters in Chicago and there aren't a ton of other options near this one.
