A divey sports bar located spitting distance from Wrigley Field, The Dugout is a welcoming little haunt with enough cheap specials throughout the week to make it enticing to a wide audience of budget-minded boozers.

The entryway to this subterranean sauce house would be easy to miss if it weren’t for its bright red awning, which guides patrons in past a large baseball mural in the hallway before they crunch their way across the peanut shell-encrusted floor inside.

Except for game days, the midweek crowd tends to be a mix of blue-collar workers, improv kids from the nearby iO theater, and young bucks in need of one or five of the daily $3 Jameson and $1 Jell-o shot specials. Bingo nights on Tuesdays attract packs of rowdy friends – who get rowdier thanks to free drink prizes – and Wednesdays satisfy everyone’s greasy soul with free bacon.

Dedicated beer pong tables in the back add to a friendly frat house vibe, while game day specials for big football games and, of course, The Cubbies, promise a packed house of all sorts of fans getting tossed and laying waste to the pub grub menu.

There’s a cool little baseball card collection mounted beneath the glass-topped bar, but most guests who find themselves in The Dugout are either staring at the TVs, at each other, or at the floor after too many Tall Boys.
