Museum of Science Museum

The Museum of Science (MOS) located on Boston’s scenic waterfront has been educating generations of citizens about all aspects of scientific pursuits for almost two centuries. Founded originally as a natural history museum in 1830, it underwent a major overhaul in 1951 to concentrate solely on science, the first museum in the US to do so. Today, the three-story building features over 500 interactive exhibits, and also houses a planetarium, a butterfly garden, a 3D digital cinema, a simulator, and an IMAX theater showing both educational and popular films. Daily live presentations at The Museum of Science allow visitors to catch a show on a variety of topics from optical illusions to juggling, or even immerse themselves in the performance in the “hands-on laboratory.” In addition to the reoccurring shows at The Museum of Science, the museum also hosts a plethora of special events, such as sleepover nights for school aged children, book club meetings, lectures, tours, and community forums.
