23rd Annual Harpoon Octoberfest Food & Drink Event / Beer Festival Sep 28–29, 2012

Few would deny that Boston doesn’t know a thing or two about beer, and that splendid knowledge is in full-effect at Harpoon Brewery’s annual Harpoon Octoberfest celebrations.

Taking place for two days near the end of September at the Harpoon Brewery in South Boston, Harpoon Octoberfest may pale in comparison to the sixteen days of suds-soaked insanity that ensues over in Munich, but there are still lots of oompah bands to hear, fresh beers to sip, bratwurst to eat, and lederhosen-clad musicians on three stages waltzing their hearts out to watch.

There’s even a German chocolate cake-eating contest and keg bowling.

Tickets to the Harpoon Octoberfest celebrations are not sold in advance and cost $20 at the door. Harpoon Octoberfest tickets include a souvenir pint cup and one drink ticket. Additional drinks and food are extra.

Designated drivers have nowhere near as much fun but do receive free non-alcoholic beverages.

Brewery regulars who have a Friend of Harpoon Card receive half-priced admission and access to VIP services like a shorter line to gain entry.
