Boston 13.1 Marathon Running Every year in September

A chance to get a taste of the exalted Boston Marathon in half the distance – which we assume means you only lose half your toenails running it – the Allstate Life Insurance Boston 13.1 Marathon is an annual half-marathon held in mid-September.

Beginning at the Suffolk Downs thoroughbred race track in East Boston, the Boston 13.1 Marathon’s race route usually winds down along Belle Isle Marsh Reservation Park, then along Revere Beach Boulevard and the banks of the Broad Sound before turning around near Gibson Park.

Although the Boston 13.1 Marathon doesn’t receive near the attention or crowds of the famous full Boston Marathon, a $3,500 prize purse pulls out plenty of hardcore runners looking to show their stuff, as well as several thousand mid-level participants prepping for a full 26.2 race down the road.

Boston 13.1 Marathon entry fees range from $85–$100, the latter for last-minute registration.
