Party Earth Sonsie Review

The Scene

Popular with a diverse mix of successful young professionals, corporate executives, and cultured tourists, Sonsie serves up a menu of first class food and seasonal cocktails in a chic and airy environment.

Popular with a diverse mix of successful young professionals, corporate executives, and cultured tourists, Sonsie serves up a menu of first class food and seasonal cocktails in a chic and airy environment.

Cozy nooks full of chocolate brown leather chairs and sofas provide space for patrons to chat over signature cocktails, as groupings of small tables in the rest of the single-room space host affable clusters of finance guys and sophisticated couples savoring the restaurant’s classic Mee Krob or a chicken chipotle pizza from the brick oven.

Red-orange walls, elegant orange lighting, and funky colorful portraits create a French bistro ambiance, while flat-screen TVs above the glistening mahogany bar give guests something to look at between rounds of martini-driven flirting.

Wine lovers will want to take the stairs down to the Wine Room, a temperature-controlled glass wine cellar with over two hundred varieties to sample, and an intimate spot for private cocktail parties and the occasional wine tastings.

During the warmer seasons, the French doors in front are thrown wide, sending a small sprawl of stylish guests to the wicker tables outside.

Chic and low-key, Sonsie is the perfect spot where fashionable patrons can find an upscale Sunday brunch, a few post-shopping cocktails, or a trendy night out.

Wine, great crowds and top notch people watching

*NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS NOT ON FOOD* Sonsie is one of those places that you go to for the ambiance and the staff. I've been here twice, both times with another female friend and both times we have sat in the lounge/bar area. The crowd is eclectic, but generally 30+ and you can expect to see more people in nicer dress ordering wine than not. The bartenders we've had both times were super friendly and attentive and both times they have stirred up a little delicious cocktail on the house for no reason at all. I wouldn't really deem it a place you'd go to be picked up or vice versa...but I will say that both times we were there that was part of the equation. Generally it was by a late-50's gentleman in khakis and a blue sportcoat...so you can get the picture of what I'm trying to say. Ambiance is great, particularly in the summer time when they open up the entire front so that you feel you are sitting right on the sidewalks for Newbury Street people-watching. I could see myself getting a good seat in the future and magically downing enough cocktails the entire night flies by. To me, being anywhere enjoyable enough to hold my attention longer than a couple of hours is a win in my book. Once I try the food, I'll edit the review.
The bettle between great food and people watching

Sonsie has one of the prime location in Boston. Located in the heart of Newbury Street, it shames most of the restaurants in the surrounding area with great prices and ambiance. On a hot summer day, you sit by the open window area with tables shaped perfectly to sit and people watch and see the best dressed in the city walk by as you dine in one of the greatest areas Boston has to offer.
Spot on Sonsie

Sonsie isn't just another stuffy, overpriced local haunt on Newbury Street. It isn't boring, packed with the same crowd day in and day out. Sonsie is chic, delicious and social. The low lighting and laid back atmosphere of Sonsie is completely conducive to a bit of flirtation and bar chatter on a Saturday night. Then, on Sunday, Sonsie is the place to cozy up with some caffeine and a filling plate of breakfast. The Newbury gem sits at the very end of the famous street and opens it's front doors to the summer breeze for excellent people watching and a chance to be watched in return. Sonsie is no fuss, the right amount of frills and a handsome crowd to make you order that second cocktail...and a dozen oysters. Sonsie boasts a great night out, and and pulls Bostonians back for a comforting meal for the recovery day after.
Top Ranked Restaurant on Newbury Street

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. One of its most appealing aspects is that the front of the restaurant is open to the sidewalk, and on a nice night, it makes great for people watching and getting some fresh air while you eat. Sonsie is located on the famous Newbury Street, which is a must see in the city of Boston, home to some of the nicest shops around. The menu has a variety of choices, their mini pizzas and salads are my personal favorites. The service never disappoints, but the main attraction is definitely is the location and the ambiance of the restaurant!
Best location!

Sonsie on Newbury Street in Boston is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat while taking in the amazing atmosphere. It's prime location lends itself perfectly to a lunch or dinner to take a break for shopping in all the great surrounding stores. I love eating outside there when the weather permits, and the inside ambiance is beautiful but also quaint as well. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and the food never disappoints. I love all the salads there and the flatbread pizzas are also perfect for lunch. The steak is delicious for a good dinner as well. Definitely check out this place when in Boston! If the location isn't enough of a draw, the food is good too!
