Party Earth Review A lair of Mexican spirits and Latin beats, Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar is a sultry sunken lounge with a drink list almost as long as Nabokov’s namesake novel – albeit much easier to read. Trendy young professionals fill the dimly lit space after work, settling in on the main bar’s scarlet chairs ... more

Of all the cuisines and dishes that Boston might be known for – seafood, Irish pub grub, Italian, even beans, Mexican fare is not exactly high on the list. Nevertheless, Beantown does have a good amount of Mexican restaurants, serving up south of the border provisions authentic as any around these parts.
Perfectly blending the more traditionally seen Hub establishment with a Latino edge, Jose McIntyre's is Boston's original Mexican-Irish restaurant and bar. Other, more traditional spots like Fajitas & 'Ritas, Case Romero, and Papagayo serve up tacos, enchiladas, burritos, and other items typical of the cuisine. Some venues, like Temazcal Cantina, MIJA Cantina & Tequila Bar, and Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, also feature a heavy emphasis on one of the favorite liquors to come out of this area – tequila – sometimes offering up dozens upon dozens of different types for those patrons looking for a little more than their usual Patrón.
While not necessarily considered to be highly authentic, more casual spots do their best to satisfy the appetites of Beantown burrito-lovers. Even take-out joints like El Pelon Taqueria and Anna's Taqueria have a fairly serious following, thanks to their massive portion sizes, amazing flavors, and totally affordable price points.
