Partying in Boston: The Alternative View of the City's Social Scene

Jun 4, 2012 —  Home to some of the most prestigious schools in the world, including Harvard and MIT, Boston is an intellectual and cultural mecca where writers, professors, and students mix and mingle both in and out of the classroom.

Walking around during the day is like wandering through a history book that takes you past spots like Ralph Waldo Emerson’s writing hangouts, Paul Revere’s House, and the site of the Boston Massacre, before leading you to an 18th-century pub for a few pints of Guinness.

At night, Boston plays host to a small but very solid live music scene, especially in Cambridge, and has a myriad of authentic Irish pubs and bars usually packed with students, locals, and regulars all indulging in Boston’s renowned trifecta of home-brewed beer, clam chowder, and sports.

It may be a big city, but Boston has an unpretentious, small town attitude that makes you feel like ‘everybody [really] knows your name,’ from the bartenders to the other patrons who call the local watering holes their own.
