Boarding House Park (Lowell, MA) Information

Boarding House Park (Lowell, MA) - Concert Venue | Music Venue in Boston.

There’s nothing like seeing an outdoor concert on a warm summer night. Boarding House Park in Lowell, MA hosts an annual summer music series, and each concert draws a blended crowd of twenty-somethings, families, and older couples, equipped with lawn chairs and blankets to claim a space on the grassy lawn.

Past performers at Boarding House Park include the Indigo Girls, Lyle Lovett, K.D. Lang, and Gaelic Storm. Special kids’ shows at Boarding House Park are free, and have an arts and crafts component in addition to the music. The venue also hosts a popular folk music festival for one weekend each summer.

While the snacks are a cut above most concert venue offerings – pulled pork sandwiches, clam chowder, and whoopie pies – one important detail is that no alcohol is permitted. It’s just as well since most patrons opt to drive from Boston, parking in the lot across the street. Those who’d prefer to travel by T can take the commuter rail from North Station and walk the remaining few blocks from the Lowell stop to the park.

No matter how you plan on getting to Boarding House Park, it’s a good idea to get there early – since there are no projection screens, a spot close to the stage is imperative if you’d like to be able to see the band.

Great for Summer Concerts
Amanda D. Jun 10, 2013
Boarding House Park is very well kept area that is run by the National Park Service. In the Summer they offer a Music Series which is great for both kids and adults. They annually have recognizable names like Joan Baez and Michael McDonald. On a nice night it's a fabulous place to bring a picnic and lay out in the grass and enjoy music for a fun, inexpensive date night, or just a nice night out with the family. Children are allowed in for free and they do offer refreshments (for an additional cost) if you don't have time to pack your own picnic. I would highly recommend checking this place out during the Summer Folk Festival which is the largest free folk festival in the country, and is usually held towards the end of July. The folk festival is a three day celebration which has so much to offer in the way of music, art, food, entertainment, etc. The Boarding House Park area is located next to the historic Boott Mill and runs along the canals, it's very charming spot which offers a glimpse into the rich history of Downtown Lowell.
