Boston Fashion Week 2012 Fashion Event Sep 27–Oct 6, 2012

Boston Fashion Week is a semi-annual fashion trade show held in a 3,000 square foot tent near the city’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel. During the September fashion week, designers’ Ready-to-Wear and men’s Spring/Summer collections for the following year are debuted, while February’s fashion week features Fall/Winter collections.

Since 1995 Boston Fashion Week has been one of many fashion weeks held internationally. Other major fashion weeks include New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, and Paris Fashion Week.

What distinguishes Boston Fashion Week from others is that the city promotes local established designers, allowing them to showcase their work to the public while celebrating the creativity and style that Boston has to offer. Past featured designers include Sam Mendoza, Emily Muller, and Candice Wu.

Boston’s Fashion Week is also known for its Emerging Trends Fashion Show, which features aspiring designers who have an opportunity to expose their designs to sponsors, buyers, and media. The fashion show has debuted the works of former Project Runway designers like Jerry Tam, Maya Luz, and Keith Lissner.

During the week, the city comes alive with an energy that crowds local restaurants and hotels with some of the most influential people in fashion, entertainment, and art eager to join in on the excitement of Fashion Week.
