Events in Boston

The idea of events in Boston no doubt tips in the direction of sports, but of course, there is plenty of other stuff to do in Boston besides go to Fenway Park and the Garden.

Those in search of great live music venues and events head to Cambridge and Somerville to check out a rock concert, especially along Central Square in Cambridge, or catch a show at the myriad theaters – from the Wang Theater to the Opera House – that draw in major traveling troupes and world-famous singers throughout the year.

Shopping-seekers, meanwhile, will fare well at the high-end designer boutiques on chic Newbury Street, Copley Place, and The Shops at Prudential Center, while budget-minded buyers will be swimming in vintage threads in the Garment District.

And then there are major holidays like the 4th of July where Boston puts on one of the best fireworks displays in the country.
