Party Earth Wonder Bar Review

The Scene

Partiers looking for more than just a bar in the Allston area should head to Wonder Bar, a versatile venue that combines cool hangout with a rowdy club experience.

Partiers looking for more than just a bar in the Allston area should head to Wonder Bar, a versatile venue that combines cool hangout with a rowdy club experience.

Scattered couches and tables in the lower level lounge provide plenty of chill-out space for the after-work groups looking to blow off steam over fancy drinks, as gaggles of animated bachelorette and birthday party guests are whisked off to sectioned areas with their dedicated waitresses, bottles, and mixers.

Although there is a well-populated dance floor in the lounge, the wildest action takes place upstairs when throngs of preppy college kids and young professionals in their finest dancing gear show up later on to get down to DJs or live bands.

As the night progresses, the heady combination of music, booze, and girls dancing on tables turns Wonder Bar into a seething mass of grinding bodies, as both floors overflow with dance fiends and drunken pick-up lines.

Anyone who craves a crazy club scene without the door anxiety will find it at Wonder Bar.

Young crowd, cheap drinks, loud music

Wandered in after finding this place using Privie (http://www.privielife.com/) and had a blast. Great music and drinks are priced decently also unlike the clubs nearby. Definitely going back!
Dancing and Young college kids

Wonderbar and i have a love/hate relationship. I have been there for some of the best nights and some of the worst. Wonderbar is known for having lots of underage kids try to get in (more times than not they will find out and take your ID when they do so don't even bother). The crowd consists majoritly of young college undergrads who are pulled in by the cheap cover and cheaper drinks. Their resident DJ's put on a good mix of trap, top 40, mash ups and EDM music. If you go before 11 usually girls either have discounted or no cover. Keep in mind this place gets packed on the weekends so prepare yourself to wait if you go out later. Great place to go out, drink and dance your Friday night away. Wonderbar is by a ton of other bars too that rival for good drink specials. Pro tip- load up at tavern in the square or white horse so you're wait in line doesn't feel too long at Wonder Bar.
Time to Dance

Wonder Bar is an awesome place to check out if you're in the Allston area and don't want to make the commitment of going into downtown. There are two levels, both complete with bars and dance floors (all I really need). On the main floor, there is a stage that you and your friends can dance on. The crowd is a good mix of college students and young professionals, and you can enjoy your night without completely emptying your wallet.

I have been there a few times on friday nights at 11:00 ish. The crowd is not a uniform one, and the place was only about half full each of the times I have been there. There were different DJs each time but they were all pretty good. They offer low end beers for a pretty good price.

Solid midweek destination to pick up college girls of quality, particularly those from BU. Also a spot for decent amount of young professionals. This place isn't going to wow you with elegance if you are accustomed to high-end lounges, but for Allston, it's certainly a step up in class versus some of the other filthy locations on the same road. If your scope of possible destinations for a fun night out expands beyond Allston, there are certainly better options than Wonder Bar in downtown Boston.
