Improv Asylum Information

Improv Asylum - Comedy Club in Boston.

Some would argue that improv comedians must not be in their right minds to get up on stage with nothing except a vain hope that something funny comes to mind. It appears that the comics at ImprovAsylum would agree with this assessment judging by the name of the popular venue. Founded by a group of friends/loonies in 1997, the brightly lit North End basement comedy club runs shows 6 nights a week with varying themes, such as “Raunch,” “Lost in Boston,” and the “Vanity Project.”

In addition to performances at ImprovAsylum, the venue also offers improv and sketch writing classes at both beginner and advanced levels, and corporate training events, where the resident troupe members draw upon their lightning-quick thought process to coach executives on how to handle various professional scenarios and how to foster teamwork – while injecting humor into the process.

The North End is one of the most crowded areas in the city, with revelers and restaurant goers strolling in the streets most nights and making them inaccessible for driving. For this reason, taking the T to the Orange Line Haymarket station is strongly recommended. As for edibles, the venue doesn’t serve food, but beer or wine can serve as a liquid dinner in a pinch.
