Giggles Comedy Club scores laughs even before patrons step in the building – it’s housed inside Prince Pizzeria, which has a giant “leaning tower of Pizza” affixed to the roof. Luckily, the seasoned comedians inside the club are less punny – most have been staples of the Boston comedy scene for decades.

Shows at Giggles Comedy Club occur most Friday and Saturday nights, with two or three comics taking up the mic on the small stage adorned by only a red neon “Giggles” sign each night. Not for the claustrophobic, the space is fairly cramped with tables crowded into the tiny room, but pizza and pitchers of beer puts the crowd in a buddy-buddy mood, and most people are laughing too hard to mind the close quarters.

Located in Saugus on restaurant-dotted Route 1, it’s not well served by public transportation, so hopping in the car and taking the twenty minute drive is the best bet. For a genuine Boston comedy experience, a comedy show at Giggles Comedy Club is a prime choice.
